چکیده

The surfaces of aerial plant parts provide a habitat for epiphytic micro-organisms, many of which also influence the growth of pathogens. Bacteria are generally the predominant initial inhabitants of newly expanded leaves, while yeasts and filamentous fungi dominate later in the growing season (Kinkel et al., 1987). A large body of information has been accumulated regarding antagonism between bacteria and fungi on the leaf surface, and its possible role in the biological control of pathogenic fungi (Gowdu and Balasubramanian, 1988). Biological control may be an alternative to chemicals in the control of some pathogenic fungi, in order to reduce environmental pollution. IN VITRO ANTAGONISTIC EFFECTS OF TRICHODERMA SPP. ON SEVERAL SOILBORNE PLANT PATHOGENIC FUNGI

In vitro studies with Trichoderma spp., soil-borne fungal antagonists, demonstrated that a number of isolates produced volatile and non-volatile metabolites capable of inhibiting the growth and sporulation of several soil-borne plant pathogenic fungi. Microscopic observations showed that T. harzianm and T. viride, isolated from soil samples from Ahwaz and Karaj, adversely affected the myce...

Effect of Volatile Metabolites of Phylloplane Fungi of Chlorophytum Tuberosum against Its Fungal Plant Pathogen In-vitro

Phylloplane fungi of Chlorophytum tuberosum were screened for their antagonistic activities against Colletotrichum dematium in vitro. Volatiles produced from the cultures of Trichoderma harzianum ISO-1 showed maximum inhibition of mycelial growth of C.dematium followed by T. piluliferum, T. harzianum ISO-2 and Aspergillus niger,

In Vitro Ovicidal Activity of Nematophagous Fungus Paecilomyces lilacinus on the Eggs of Parasitic Helminths

Introduction: The nematophagus fungi have been suggested as an alternative way to eliminate the zoonotic helminths eggs from the environment. In the present study, we evaluated the ovicidal activity of a fungus, Paecilomyces lilacinus, recovered from a compost soil, on the eggs of parasitic helminths under in vitro condition. Methods: Water suspension of the soil samples collected from differen...

Disease control / Moyens de lutte Comparative screening of bacteria for biological control of potato late blight (strain US-8), using in- vitro, detached-leaves, and whole-plant testing systems

Forty-three bacteria were isolated from the phylloplane and (or) rhizosphere of potato and canola plants and tested for their ability to control the pathogen Phytophthora infestans (strain US-8) causing late blight on potato. This study revealed the benefit of using more than one system when searching for biocontrol activity. In this regard, the complementarity of the three systems chosen (in-v...

In Vitro Inhibition of Growth in Saprolegnia sp. Isolated

Saprolegnia is one of? the? ?most important agents decreasing the eggs survival rate in sturgeon hatcheries. There are some chemical substances for controlling the fungal infection of eggs. In this study, an attempt was made to introduce a ?germ negative bacterium, Pseudomonas aeroginosa (PTCC1430)(Persian Type Culture Collection) as a biocontrol??ling agent of? ?water mold. Saprolegnia was...
